Roland C. Robinson, age 79, began his journey home Wednesday February 25, 2015 after a day of planting and working in his spring garden. With wheelbarrow and shovel put away and finding his way to his favorite chair, he looked upon his work in the Bungalow garden and said "It is good." Then, he quietly slipped into his stone home where he passed away and was found by Jane, his beloved wife of 57 years. Very soon, his three sons Mike, Mickay and Marlow were there to bid farewell to their beloved father.

Roland was born November 3, 1935, to Louis C. Robinson and May Hardman Robinson. Older brothers included William and Douglas. When Roland was 11 months old, twins Joyce and Jerry were born. Younger sisters Floris and Jill completed the family. At the age of 5, Roland found his father in a pool of blood from a farming accident where a horse bolted severely severing Lou's hip and leg. The Robinson boys from an early age were left to care for the farm while their father was in the hospital for six months. Roland's childhood was the makings of this man.

Good times were had by Roland as a gifted athlete at Pleasant Grove High School. He was required to pass off an English credit by reciting Shakespeare's "To Be or Not To Be" on the baseball mound. At Snow College he found lifetime friends and cemented a lasting friendship with Jay Johnson riding in the "Blue Goose" to and from school. He joined the National Guard and served for many years creating roadways over his beloved mountains.

Roland met the love of his life, a Pleasant Grove girl named, Jane Linebaugh. They married August 23, 1958 while attending thoroughbred horse races in Ely Nevada. They treasure their marriage, which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Roland's skills were many. His favorite was that of building the Bungalow from native stone. He worked for years as a stone mason and eventually traded tools and became a chef.

Roland and Jane carved a niche for life on this beloved land where sons learned from their parents that work was a blessing. Later, Mike, Mickay, and Marlow were blessed with lovely families. Jane finally got her daughters through marriage: Mike and Vickie, Mickay and Naomi, and Marlow and Michelle. Roland was the grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Roland served his community as beautification chairman. He faithfully verbalized his opinions at city hall and during community elections. He was a dedicated member of the Pleasant Grove 2nd Ward at Battle Creek Drive where he was a high priest member and president of the Sunday school.

He will be remembered with love and affection by many.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Second Ward Chapel, 455 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the American Fork City Cemetery.
