Holly Bernell Maxfield, 76, of Lindon passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2000 at American Fork Hospital, with his family at his side.He was born August 13, 1923 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Archie Obed and Nellie Holland Maxfield. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his father and step-mother Mary Gleason. He married Gwen Anderson on July 7, 1945 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He grew up in Lindon and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1941. He worked his entire life as a dairy farmer and worked the family farm in Lindon. He was a hard working man and helped anyone who needed it. He enjoyed chariot racing in the winter and earned the distinction of being the oldest driver at the races in Ely, Nevada. He was a wonderful and generous husband, father, and grandfather who was greatly loved and respected. He will be missed by all who knew him.He is survived by his wife, Gwen of Lindon; and five children: Gloria (Steven) Nicholes, Lindon; Lynell (Carl) Wilkinson, Pleasant Grove; Richard A. Maxfield, Hemet, California; Thomas H. (Patti) Maxfield, Lindon; David B. (Mellanie) Maxfield, American Fork; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include his brother, Grant Maxfield, Pleasant Grove and sister, Ellen Peterson, Murray.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Lindon Eighth Ward Chapel, 910 West 1600 North, Orem. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the Church on Saturday, one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
