Loy Jean Bartholomew Dobson - 1/19/2012

Class of 1946

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Loy Jean Bartholomew Dobson, age 83, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at her home in Holden, Utah; due to complications with lung cancer. Her loving husband and best friend Lester, was by her side.

Jean was born February 19, 1928 in Fillmore, Utah to Loy Day Bartholomew and Juliaett Callister. After her mother passed away, she was raised by her step-mother, Ireta Martine Jenson Warner. She graduated from Millard High School where she met Lester A. Dobson, her high school sweetheart. She was very active growing up and participated in many activities; band, basketball team, school plays, and was a drum majorette and horse parade queen. Jean enjoyed school and was given the honor of speaking at her high school graduation and on the same day she was surprised by an engagement ring from the love of her life.

On August 7, 1946, Jean and Lester were married. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 15, 1947. in all they shared more than 65 years together. They were blessed with 5 loving children oldest Leslie Jean Williams (Gregory), Dennis Lester Dobson (Maria), Loy Edward Dobson (Carolyn), Jeffery L Dobson (Janese). She was preceded in death by her daughter Juliann Dobson, her parents, two brothers and sister. Jean is the proud Grandmother to 15 and Great Grandmother to 27.
As a wife and mother her family was her priority. Day in and day out she made the world a better place to be. The people whose lives she touched were inspired by her kindness and unselfish example, including but not limited to church callings, mission call, temple worker, and a dedicated genealogy worker.

Going a million miles out of her way was never too much when she could lend a hand and ease another’s burdens. No matter the sacrifice or hours spent, she always had a smile at the end of the day. Whether time spent with the children, the hard work on the farm, or all the chores of keeping a home, she always had time for her loving husband. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered forever by all whose lives she touched.
