Kathleen Mae Decker Olsen - 11/20/2010

Class of 1954

Kathleen Mae Decker Olsen returned to her heavenly home on 20 Nov 2010, at the age of 72. After a long battle with cancer, Kathleen quietly passed away at home with family by her side.

Kathleen was born in Salt Lake City on 22 Apr 1938, to Alma V. Decker and Rosalind Reeves Decker. After graduating from high school in Enterprise, Utah, she continued her education at the College of Southern Utah, the University of Utah, and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1960. Kathleen married James Gary Olsen 50 years ago in the Salt Lake Temple on 12 Aug 1960.

As beautiful on the inside as the outside, Kathleen was genuinely interested in people; being kind and caring to everyone. She was an accomplished pianist and took great pleasure in both music and art. Kathleen enjoyed sharing her talents and remained active throughout her life in school, church, and civic activities. She will be greatly missed for her faith and her unselfish love of family and friends.

Kathleen is survived by her husband Gary; children Robert (Donna), Lorraine (Steven) Tobler, Richard, and Linda; grandchildren Brandon, Brittany, Ashley, Charles (his mother Marilyn), Jesse, Cody and Kurtis; brother Wayne Reeves Decker (Helen), sister Elizabeth Decker Beckman, and many beloved sisters- and brothers-in-law. She will enjoy a long-awaited reunion with her parents, father-in-law James Olsen, brother Dean Alma Decker, and many other family members.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Alpine Hospice for their care of our dear Kathleen.
