Ione Woodbury Bradshaw - 8/27/2005

Class of 1929

CEDAR CITY - Ione Woodbury Bradshaw returned to her heavenly home, Saturday, August 27, 2005, for a joyful reunion with her husband, Reed, son Bevan, parents, William E. and Verda Sullivan Woodbury, three brothers and many generations of ancestors, whom she has traced throughout her lifetime.

Ione was born July 15, 1911 in Leeds, Utah. She married Reed Bradshaw in the St. George LDS Temple, March 26, 1930. Reed passed away February 10, 1986.

Ione graduated with the second graduating class of Hurricane High School and then attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. Following her marriage, and the birth of their first two children, Ione and Reed moved to Cedar City where he was employed as parts manager for Bradshaw Chevrolet. In 1946, they became the owners of Bradshaw Firestone which operated on Main Street in Cedar City for 48 years. During this time, Ione was also employed by Arden/Meadow Gold Dairy as a bookkeeper. After their retirement from the Firestone Store, Reed and Ione served an LDS mission in the Mountain Grove, Missouri area.

During her lifetime, Ione devoted much time to genealogy research and temple work. She served in her ward in many capacities, especially in the Relief Society and Family History organizations.

Along with raising her own four children, Ione's home has been opened to her brothers and numerous grandchildren as they have attended college.

Ione was a master quilter, knitter, and tatter. Every child, grandchild, great grandchild, family members and friends have been recipients of her handiwork. She was a charter member of the En Avante Literary Club. She also served in many capacities in the Cedar City Lady Lions organization including a term as President.

Until physical problems overcame her, Ione maintained a beautiful yard and garden.

On her recent 94th birthday, Ione received the "Flight of a Lifetime" helicopter ride which was provided by her niece and husband Cyndi and Steve Gilbert.

Ione raised four children, Reed Bevan (Merelyn) (both deceased), Karma (Ted) Jolly of Richfield, Utah, Karl (Susan-deceased & Jerri) of Cedar City, Utah and JoNeal (Robert) Hall of Tolleson, Arizona. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren (2 deceased), 62 great grandchildren (1 deceased), and 19 great great grandchildren (with one more expected), sister MaryLynn (Clair) Reber of Santa Clara, Utah, Evans Woodbury of St. George, Utah, W. Bryce Woodbury (RaNae-deceased & Joyce) of Sacramento, California, and sister-in-law Lois Woodbury of Toquerville, Utah.
