Franklin Benson Madsen - 4/4/2011

Class of 1952

Franklin Benson Madsen, age 76, died at his home in St. George, Utah, on April 4, 2011. Born July 19, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to Julius Viggo and Constance Benson Madsen. On April 21, 1951 he married Muriel Jeanette Terry and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this month.

Ben attended Hurricane High School, lettering in baseball, football, tennis and track. He later attended Brigham Young University, graduating with honors and pitching for the Cougar's baseball team. He was a great athlete and was very competitive all of his life. He participated in the Hunstman World Senior Games for 25 consecutive years. He is known for his great athletic abilities, competitive spirit and sportsman like conduct.

Ben lived in Murray, Utah where he raised his family. He worked as a self-employed accountant, moving back to Southern Utah upon retirement. Ben was a member of the LDS church and served in many callings, influencing many people for the better. He was a loving and caring man devoted to his wife and family. Ben's six children have given him 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by wife Jeanette Madsen, Terry(son) and LaVonne Madsen, Ted (son) and Linda Madsen, Michael(son) and Susan Madsen, Sheri(daughter) and Mike Peterson, Diana Madsen (daughter) and David(son) and Darci Madsen and J.R.(brother) and Mavis Madsen.
