HISTORY OF THE IRON HORSE TROPHY

Iron Horse TrophyBehind every great school there's the best of school spirit, and behind every big trophy there's a great tradition. The "IRON HORSE" happens to be one of those trophies. It has been a part of Ben Lomond's way of life and tradition every since its beginning as a school.

It was designed and built by Carl N. Wallis, an art instructor from Ben Lomond, for the purpose of depicting friendship, cooperation, and a healthy spirit of competition between the two schools. The reason why the models of the two trains at Promontory were used is because two companies were working together under the same spirit of cooperation, competition, and friendship for one particular purpose.

The Friendly Fighting Scots took the "Iron Horse" the first time it was played for and it became the first trophy in our trophy case, thus making B.L. its home. It was first presented to Ben Lomond's student body president, Dennis Steetler, by Ogden's student body president, Bob Doctor.

Each year the colors of the victor are painted on a tie on that school's side of the track. At the present, more orange can be seen than red, white, and blue. However, this condition will not remain long. Ben Lomond is soon going to be able to paint another tie on the track.

In 2009 Ben Lomond Suffer its worst lost In Iron horse history before a sellout crowd standing room only at least until halftime 56-0

And the worst part is that Ogden coach Eric Erye had applied for The Head Coaching Job At BL the Year before...So what might have been

Ben Lomond in the season 2014 ended a twenty-five game skid and at Ogden claimed the Horse 32-7 to bring the Iron Horse # 3 for the first time home to BL

The Scots and Tigers have split the last six regular-season games, but Ogden has a 43-18 lead — 43-18 in Iron Horse games — in the uninterrupted series dating back to 1953.

But the best thing about the whole series is two months later when you meet on the hardwood and their cheerleaders say "We got spirit how about you?" and you say 'We got the horse, how about you?"
