Dorothy Louise Vellinga Oyler - 7/3/2010

Class of 1940

NORTH OGDEN-Dorothy Louise Vellinga Oyler, Mother of Dennis, Robert, Kent, Sally, Wayne, Russell, and Diana passed away on July 3, 2010. Dorothy passed away peacefully at her home in North Ogden.

Dorothy was a native of Ogden, Utah she graduated from Ogden High School. Dorothy was a member the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints and was a member of the Ben Lomond 1st Ward.

Dorothy married John Earl Oyler on September 6, 1940 in Farmington, Utah; they were married for 57 years. Together they enjoyed road trips in Southern Utah. They loved to venture off the beaten pathways and find roads that took them into unknown places. They liked to collect rocks, fish, and travel with each other. When they moved to North Ogden in 1950 they bought the Historic Randall one room school house and turned it into a home for 7 kids. They lived there for 34 years. Dorothy�s greatest joy in her life was her children; she built her entire life around raising and loving them.

Dorothy loved to paint, sew, put up fruit, and do hand crafts. Dorothy had a great sense of humor; there was nothing better than to watch her laugh. Dorothy was a great friend and a wonderful example of enduring to the end.

Dorothy is survived by her 6 children Dennis and Gloria Oyler, Spokane WA., Robert and Charlyn Oyler, Sandy, Utah, Kent and Yolanda Oyler, Riverdale, Utah, Sally and Russell Pincombe, Pleasant View, Utah, Russell Oyler, North Ogden, Utah, Diana and Corwin Smith, Syracuse, Utah and her best lifelong friend and niece Beth Nielsen.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her Husband John E Oyler, her son Wayne R. Oyler and grandson Shane D. Oyler, her Mom and Dad and her 15 older brothers and sisters.
Dorothy has 36 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
