Marvin Hoggan - 12/1/2010

Class of 1940

OGDEN – Marvin Hoggan died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in Ogden.

He was born January 27, 1922 in Ogden, Utah to Katie Malan and Robert Ellis Hoggan. He attended school in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School in 1940.

Marvin served his country with the U.S. Navy for three and a half years on the SS Pennsylvania during World War II.

He married Ruth Ellen Belnap on February 26, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Marvin was employed by Bush Market as a produce manager. He then graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Education. He began his teaching career at Ogden High School where he taught for 22 years.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving faithfully in many callings including as second counselor in the Bishopric of the Ogden Skyline Ward.

Marvin will be remembered for his honesty, kindness, work ethic, and faith.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth, of Ogden; his children, Michele (John) Hinojosa, Layton; David Hoggan, Ogden; Lisa Lund, Saratoga Springs; Jonathan Hoggan, Ogden; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and his sister, Margie Hansen.

Preceding Marvin in death were his parents, son Richard, grandson Tyler, brothers Lewis, Arvard, and Howard, and his sister, Ruth Robinson.
