'Math Madness' event held

By Sam Woodruff

On April 25, the finals of the “Math Madness” competition took place during lunch in Mr. Ryan Hand’s classroom. Students went against each other in trying to solve math problems quickly and correctly.

The top four places were as follows: Joshua LaRance in first place, Sam Woodward in second, Tressa Renn took third, and Vance Petitti was fourth. All are freshmen.

The competition was fierce, with each side trying their hardest to win with only one question on the board and with only a minute to win it.

All of the students had the opportunity to play in the beginning, with the top two in each class moving on. The honors math students were funneled on one side, with the basic math students on the other, Tressa Renn managed to beat two honors students, but was later beat out by Sam Woodruff. In the end it came down to Josh and Sam, with the victor being Josh.

The math department appreciates all who showed up and tried their hardest.
