Gary Thomas Empey was born in St. George, Utah on May 27,1971. He was a sophomore at Dixie High School at the time of his death, Oct. 5, 1987. Gary was the youngest in a family of four boys. He loved his family and treasured the time that he spent with them. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and the outdoors, in general. He was interested in animals and was raising tumble pigeons. Gary collected model airplanes and cars and took pleasure in science experiments and working with power tools. Gary was an Eagle Scout; he received the honor when he was only thirteen. He excelled in school and also at his job at Farmer Jack.
